Qigong (also seen as Chi Kung) is an ancient exercise which is very easy for anyone to practice. Through slow-paced movement and breathing this ancient Chinese practice enables the practioner to establish the mind-body connection and improve posture, circulation, flexibility and blood pressure.

The goal of Qigong is to harmonize “yin” and “yang” energies of the body. The function of Qigong is to unify these forces and connect the energy throughout the body with the Dantian (center of energy) which is located 2-3 inches below the navel. Its first goal is to open the channels in the body and allow chi (life energy) to flow naturally to strengthen all parts of the body. Young, old, weak and strong individuals can all benefit from this renewed energy flow.

The exercises are very simple and can produce very beneficial results.

“Silk-Reeling” Qigong is the application of the idea of the silk worm using a spiral motion to produce a cocoon from one strand of silk. This exercise is unique to the Chen Style of Taijiquan, and is used to obtain power and energy. Practicing over a period of time can enable one to develop real energy to open up the channels and improve yin and yang balance of the body and improve smooth flow of chi and blood.
